FAQs:

Train to Gain has already helped over 12,000 businesses like yours in the South West.

What courses are available through Train to Gain?

Part of the Train to Gain service enables you to access a wide range of courses and training provision. These include: Level 2 and 3 vocational qualifications (equivalent to GCSEs and A Levels), Apprenticeship programmes, numeracy and literacy courses, and Leadership and Management training. Whichever type of training your business and staff need, we will work with you to find the best solution. This maybe training in the work place, during certain hours to fit in with sifts, or by joining an existing course off-site.

How much will the training cost?

There's likely to be some cost associated to the delivery of the training you require. However, a Skills Broker or training provider can help to identify which parts of that training might be paid for by public funds. This may cover all or contribute towards the cost of the training. Either way, we will work with you to maximise all of the possible support that is available.

My company is small, but we are growing. One of my employees is interested in an Apprenticeship, how can we get started?

There are a number of approaches you could take, these include:

  1. Contacting the Apprenticeship helpline on 08000 150 400
  2. Approaching a local training provider and ask them for details on the Apprenticeship programme, what it involves, costs and commitments
  3. Visiting www.apprenticeships.org.uk

I think some of my employees could benefit from some help with reading, writing, and working with figures as they don't have formal qualifications, can this be funded?

There is currently a great deal of support available for employees who need support with numeracy and literacy or language skills. There is much evidence that such training will help your business as well. Contact Train to Gain on 08456 047 047 and they will be able to inform and advise you.

I am worried about the time my employees will spend on training in work time and the effect it may have on my business. Can training be delivered outside of standard hours?

These days, training in the workplace is extremely flexible. There are as many training sessions delivered outside of company hours as there are in them. The most successful training takes place when it is fully supported by management and is integrated into your staff's duties. Talk through your needs with a training provider and arrange a tailored training package.

I am not sure just what training would benefit my business and employees most, how can I access help and guidance?

Contact Train to Gain on 08456 047 047. A Skills Broker will explain the options to you and if appropriate will carry out an analysis of your business needs to help you plan the way forward.

“Since the training scheme was put in place last year, we have seen a noticeable increase in motivation among our employees. There is also a willingness to learn and participate, which we used to find difficult.”
